Visa requirement: If your passport is not from a country with a visa waiver agreement with Iran, you will need a visa to enter Iran with a regular passport.
Countries without visa requirements:
According to internal laws and bilateral agreements, certain foreign nationals can stay in the Islamic Republic of Iran without obtaining visas through conventional procedures.
Citizens of Azerbaijan, Turkey, Syria, Georgia, Armenia, Egypt, China, Iraq, Oman, and Kazakhstan are subject to visa waiver rules.
Nationals of Lebanon, Venezuela, and Malaysia can obtain the necessary permits upon entry at the designated entry points, following established rules and conditions.
Ordinary passport holders from the following 28 countries can stay in the Islamic Republic of Iran for tourism purposes for a non-extendable period of 15 days once every six months:
United Arab Emirates, Kingdom of Bahrain, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, State of Qatar, State of Kuwait, Republic of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyz Republic, Republic of Tunisia, Islamic Republic of Mauritania, United Republic of Tanzania, Republic of Zimbabwe, Republic of Mauritius, Republic of Seychelles, Republic of Indonesia, Brunei Darussalam, Japan, Republic of Singapore, Kingdom of Cambodia, Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Federative Republic of Brazil, Republic of Peru, Republic of Cuba, United Mexican States, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Republic of Serbia, Republic of Croatia, Republic of Belarus (Only by air)
US, UK and Canadian passports: Travelers holding these passports face restrictions such as the need for a tour guide and a pre-arranged itinerary. The visa process for these nationalities can be more complicated and time-consuming.
If you’re concerned about your future travel plans, bear in mind that Iran won’t stamp your passport, so there will be no evidence of your trip.
It is important to note that with e-visas, the rejection rate is very high if you apply directly (without using an agency). Because they prefer to be able to ask about your travel purposes and itinerary before you enter the country.
United States, United Kingdom and Canadian citizens can’t travel in Iran without an organized tour with a guide.

Iranian toilets are not the same as western toilets, in Iran, squat toilets are commonly used.
No worries , you can find Western-style ones in all the hotels, most restaurants, airports, malls, and local homes.
In Iran, it's usually easy to find public toilets and restrooms anywhere.
Squat toilets are more common in public places.
It’s good to know that in Iran the public toilets are separated for men and women.
Pay attention to the fact that: No toilet papers in most of the public places, because Iranians using water to clean themselves and you will always find water in the toilets.
So it's better to have tissue paper or wet wipes with yourself. While some public toilets may provide it but it’s always better to be prepared.
You might often see a person seated at the entrance: it's the cleaning person, to whom you are expected to give a small amount of money.
For your convenience, our team will provide toilet paper for use in the public restrooms throughout the roads.

Tap water is drinkable throughout Iran. It is interesting to know that even the water used for bathing in most hotel bathrooms is drinkable.

The most important thing to know is that your credit card is unusable, which means that you need to bring your whole budget in cash.
In fact, due to sanctions on Iran, the Iranian banking system is not connected to the international banking system, so Visa and other MasterCards are useless.
Iran is one of the safest countries to travel. So don't worry about carrying cash with you.
You can ask your travel agent for advice on how much cash to bring.
Exception: Sometimes, it's possible to pay with your, Visa or credit card in some big shops and galleries especially carpet shops.

In most Iranian restaurants, depending on the geographical location, various types of meats such as lamb, beef, chicken, turkey, quail, fish, shrimp, oysters, crabs and octopus are served. Pork is not served in Iranian restaurants for religious reasons. The variety of vegetarian dishes in Iran is great, so vegetarians can easily order food in restaurants.

It's better to bring euros and US dollars that you can change so easily in every big city.
However, most of the, shops, hotels and hostels accept foreign currencies.

Iran Money and Currency Rial and Toman

Rial (ريال) is the official currency of Iran; however , prices are often quoted in Tomans. One Toman is equal to ten Rials. As a general ‎guide, written prices are given in Rials and prices quoted in conversation are in Toman.
‎As a rule of thumb you can put your thumb on one zero of any bank note to see what the note is in Toman. in everyday conversation nobody uses Rials and as always you can ask your guide or an Iranian friend when in doubt.
But I can assure you that after some time you will get the hang of it.

Men are allowed to wear short-sleeved T-shirts, but sleeveless T-shirts are not allowed.
As a male foreign tourist in Iran, you can wear either short-sleeve t-shirts or blouses.
Shorts are not allowed for men, they are required to wear long pants.
The color of the clothing does not matter and you can wear any color according to your taste. Sandals are allowed.
If you are participating in religious ceremonies such as Ashura or Tasu'a, avoid wearing colorful clothes. Preferably, wear dark-colored clothes during these days.

Currently, Censorship exists in Iran and lots of websites are blocked, like Facebook, You Tube, Instagram and Twitter.
To bypass this restriction, you’ll need a VPN (Virtual Private Network). There are plenty of free ones, and better quality paid ones.
Be sure to download one to your phone before you arrive.
However, access to apps like WhatsApp, WeChat and email are easily possible and do not require a VPN.

There are no restrictions on footwear in Iran. Men and women can wear any type of footwear, such as boots, high heels, sandals, etc., depending on their work conditions, weather, and taste. In fact, sandals are very popular among Iranian women in the summer. We recommend that our tourists wear suitable walking shoes on our Iran tours.

You are free to smoke in Iran but same as the other countries some public places may not allow you to smoke.
There has been a ban on smoking in enclosed public spaces and places.
Smoking in all public areas like state offices, hotels, restaurants, coffee shops, public transport stations, and government buildings is prohibited.

Smoking is not illegal for women in Iran, but you won't see many women smoking openly in public.
Most of those who smoke in public are men, although in busy cities like Tehran and Shiraz, you may notice some young women smoking on the streets, in cafes, and in parks.
Smoking hookah is also common among some young and old women in some large and small cities in Iran.

Women are legally allowed to drive in Iran. There are a large number of female drivers in Iran. Iranian women are free to drive in and out of any city in Iran. It is interesting to know that some women even drive buses and trucks in Iran.
